I am thinking about buying a late 70s 7100 with 350 hours. Can anyone tell me what the aproximate ground speed is in each gear and what rpms the 3 speed pto runs at? This unit has a FEL, 4' box and 5' rotary cutter for $4800. What do you think?

Thanks

Ron

Thanks Morgan. The reason I ask this is I have a Ford 8n and the 5th gear of the Kubota seems slower than 3rd gear of the 8n. I mow with 3rd gear of the 8n and definately don't want to loose ground speed. 6th gear of the Kubota is too fast to mow with.

I can't believe no one has answered this question. ....

Sorry nobody answered. I don't know if 7100's have a tach but assume that they do. There is a table in the owner's manual for my Ford and there also are scales on the tach where I can read ground speed in various gears and a mark for pto rpm. If 7100's don't have tachs or there isn't a table in the manual then possibly nobody knows the answer.

Your question could be figured out if final drive ratios and tire diameters were known. That's what I'd have to do if I needed to know ground speeds because the tables I have are for ag tires and I have smaller diameter turfs. An easy alternative might be to have somebody with drive along beside the tractor. Wish I had a definite answer but there's the chance that one doesn't exist without doing a lot of digging.

Kubota still have that model listed on the web site under "previous models". Maybe they still have an owners manual. I would suggest you call your regional distribution center. It is a waste of time to call or e-mail the corporate headquarters. ....

The b series of that vintage were not considered farm tractors, so they skipped stuff like gauges, ground speed charts, live pto and position control. However the owners manual will tell you speeds in each gear. Post the question on other sites as well in hopes of finding an owner with a manual (I sold mine or I would type it out for you)

To answer your real question, though - I think your 5th will be slower than the 8n 3rd. And I was never able to comfortably mow in 6th either. ....

PsR -

The ground speeds for the B7100 are:
1st gear: .62mph
2nd gear: 1.06mph
3rd gear: 1.82mph
4th gear: 2.85mph
5th gear: 4.86mph
6th gear: 8.32mph Varoom, Varoom !

As far as the PTO speeds, the B7100 had originally been produced with a three speed PTO. They are as follows:

Low range PTO: 540 rpm
Mid range PTO: 800 rpm
High range PTO: 1200 rpm

Hope this answers your questions...
